About the Chamber Mission Staff Board of Directors Committees

Ambassador Committee
The Ambassadors are the official hosts for the Chamber at all functions, including Business After Hours Socials and Luncheons. They meet monthly to plan new and effective ways to make members feel welcome and a real part of the Chamber. The Ambassadors call new members and invite them to get involved. They accompany new members to Chamber functions, and make sure they get acquainted with the networking procedure. The Ambassadors are essential to the retention of new members.

Education Committee
This committee engages in programs and projects that help to inform Chamber members and the community of the accomplishments of our students and educational institutions, as well as addressing the needs of our education system. The Education Committee sponsors two annual events: “Youth Business and Industry Job Shadow Day”, an event created to help students in selecting future professions and “Student Empowerment Day”, to assist high school students prepare for college. The committee also administers the Ann A. Wilk Scholarship Fund, which provides money toward education beyond high school for Inglewood students.

Legislative Committee
Federal, State and Area issues are reviewed by this committee and, if action on a given subject is desired, a written proposal is presented to the Board of Directors for their action. Period Congressional, Senatorial and Assembly reporting forums are held with elected representatives. Election ballot issues are also studied by the committee with recommendations made to the Board for their action. Occasional “Meet the Candidates” public forums are held where Candidates aspiring to be elected to a non-partisan office are presented.

Special Events Committee
This group is responsible for planning and staging the Annual Installation of Officers Banquet, securing locations for monthly membership socials which are hosted by the sponsoring businesses, and coordinating general membership luncheons/breakfasts where selected guest speakers are invited to talk on timely subjects and also introduce new Chamber members.

Golf Committee
This group plans and stages the largest Chamber fundraiser, the Annual IAACC Golf Classic.

Membership Committee
The “life blood” of the Chamber, or any organization, is dependent on membership. Programs are factored to retain the Chamber’s present membership, and others are designed to encourage prospective new members to join the organization by detailing the many business advantages offered through membership.

Small Business Committee
The Small Business Committee has as its primary objective the promotion and encouragement of economic growth within the area by improving the business management skills of individual members of the business community. This committee sponsors seminars which attempt to educate business owners/managers in various aspects of business management. The Chamber is a Small Business Administration Resource Center for the Airport Area, and provides Service Corps of Retired Executive (S.C.O.R.E.) counseling service for business entrepreneurs.
