Learn to keep your workforce safe AND what your organization needs to know about OSHA and its laws! August 8, 1- 3pm Topics: 1. Heat Illness Prevention -- Dan Leiner, an Area Manager for Cal/OSHA Consultation Service will cover heat illness prevention for both outdoor and indoor location. The importance of employee acclimatization to high temperatures and of being prepared by having an adequate supply of drinking water, access to shade or cool areas, emergency response and employee / supervisor training will be stressed. Dan will also briefly cover the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and how the Heat Illness Prevention plan may be incorporated into a company’s IIPP. Important Note: Cal/OSHA regulation (Title 8, California Code of Regulations, section 3395) specifically addresses heat illness in outdoor places of employment. Cal/OSHA enforcement is starting to address indoor heat illness under the IIPP (T8CCR 3203) and other existing regulations. 2. Accident Investigation -- John A. O’Toole, Principal Safety Consultant with General Safety Services, LLC. and for 30 years was a Safety Engineer in both Cal/OSHA Consultation and Compliance. He will provide an overview of the accident investigation process with an emphasis on product liability. He will discuss how product liability is important in establishing financial responsibility for the accident or fatality incident. BONUS: All participants will be entered to win a FREE course in one of the CSUDH, Environmental, Safety and Security Certificates donated by the California Society for Safety and Security Professionals (CSSSP.com). CSSSP also generously provides the refreshments. Location: CSUDH Extended Education Auditorium on the campus of California State University Dominguez Hills 1000 E.
