Movies in the Park
Grab your blanket and lawn chairs and head out for an unforgettable evening of cinema under the stars. The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, along with the Public Works Department-Environmental Services Section, will present the Fifth Annual “Movies in the Park” series.
Movies will be shown on the soccer field at Edward Vincent Park, located at 700 Warren Lane, on Saturday, July 12 and 19 and at Darby Park, located at 3400 W. Arbor Vitae Street on Saturday, August 2 and 9. All movies are free and begin at dusk. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. Environmental games and activities will take place prior to the viewing of the movie. CELEBRATE INGLEWOOD’S NATIONAL NIGHT OUT, AUGUST 5, 2008
On Tuesday, August 5, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., help make your neighborhood safer and stronger by “Taking Back Our Streets One Block At A Time.” Join the Inglewood Police Department in a nation-wide crime and drug prevention festival in the Inglewood Downtown Market Street shopping center. A Kick-Off Rally at Queen Street and La Brea Avenue will start at 6:00 p.m., with a solidarity walk (bring your flashlights) to the stage area located at Market and Queen Streets.
Enjoy an evening of live musical entertainment from KJLH, 102.3 FM, and Master of Ceremonies KJLH’s Aundrae Russell. Booths include fingerprinting, arts, crafts, games, woodcraft making, face painting, a coloring contest, a 27 foot climbing wall and more. Vehicle displays include classic cars, fire, police and the unveiling of Inglewood Police Department’s new T-3’s, an electric mobility vehicle that officers can navigate throughout the City. Raffle prizes include a flat screen TV stand from Target, the national sponsor of National Night Out. Free parking is available at Parking Structures next to City Hall, Queen and Locust Streets, and at Market and Regent Streets. Bring an appetite and enjoy meals from local restaurants, including a hamburger meal grilled by local Neighborhood Watch Block Clubs and Inglewood Police Department members.
